Sacramento County Department of Airports

Website & Systems Integration

To coincide with the opening of the beautiful new Terminal B at Sacramento International Airport (SMF), the Sacramento County Airport System and Hiltachk Marketing Group hired Transform Studios to build a robust new web presence. The goal with the award winning website was to create a solution that was easy to use, easy to maintain, and able handle the extreme traffic demands that one would expect from the Gateway to Northern California.

Unified Site for All County Airports

Transform Studios built a unified web experience for all county airports and administration. The largest airport and the most complex site on the platform is the Sacramento International Airport (SMF).

Sacramento International Airport

The SMF homepage was one of the first in the world to have a completely integrated, aesthetically seamless flight status information display (FIDS). With it's unique look & feel, it's still our most favorite site of all time.

Interactive Maps

Tightly integrated into the CMS, editors can quickly and easily update vendors and tenants at the airport by simply dropping a pin on the airport map. Everything from pet relief to dining & shopping options can be found here.

A first-class visual language.

Having a cohesive visual language from its physical presence to its virtual presence was key to clearly directing visitors, hence we took inspiration from existing airport wayfinding to create a complete visual language.

“Your firm is a breath of fresh air — high quality work, great people and easy to work with.”

Flight data streaming live to any TV

We created a 4K TV optimized view of the airport FIDS Board to display on monitors in various locations in Downtown Sacramento. It even has a split flap style animation which paginates data every 30 seconds.

Live parking data at your fingertips

The most recent and probably the most popular feature of the website to date, live access to parking data for each of the car parks at the airport. The interactive map changes from green, to yellow, to red to clearly show which lot is the least busy. This feature required integration with the airport's SkiData ticketing system to pull the most current in/out status and count for each of the car parks.
